Von dem antiken Stadtstaat, der vom 8-6 Jh. v. Chr. in voller Blüte stand, sind heute noch zum Teil die Stadtmauern und das ehemalige 6500 Zuschauer fassende Theater, sowie zahlreiche Ausgrabungsstätten, die an Trümmerfelder erinnern, zu besichtigen. Das heutige, moderne Eretria hat einen schönen alten Hafen mit breiter Promenade zwischen Fischerbooten, Fisch-Tavernen und Restaurants. Es gibt Mopeds, Roller und ev. auch Fahrräder zu mieten. |
