Il Civettaio is a typical farmhouse, dating back to the end of 18th century and has been accurately restored into 6 apartments, from 50 to 80 sqm. Each apartment is furnished with traditional and family furniture, to maintain intact the feelings of life in maremma. Each apartment is composed of a comfortable living room with kitchen, and bedrooms with bathroom. Volpe and Fagiano have reserved garden areas. During the winter, you will enjoy the fireplace in Istrice and Cinghiale, and the unique entrance to the Civetta and Lepre dominated by the “Big fireplace”. In eight hectars of vineyard and the three hectar olive orchard, all conducted with organic agricultural techniques, we produce montecucco doc red wine and extra virgin olive oil. Our Cinta Senese pigs are extensively bred in the woods. Join a tour around the farm and the wine-cellar. We will be happy to explain you everything about wine and Oliveoil. Surrounded by woods and our wine and olive orchards you can see from our propety, looking to the east, the beautiful hills of the Amiata ex-vulcano. To the southwest you'll see the Montleoni area. The little town Paganico is 2,5 km away, where you will find a supermarket, butcher, pastashop, pharmacie and of course the bar. Our restaurant has been thought to make your stay even more comfortable. On reservation, we offer simple traditional dishes, deeply ted to the seasons and composed solely of our products (wine, olive oil and cinta senese) and those of our neighbors. Close to the sea you find a lot of fishrestaurants. Nearby you find lots of little villages with nice restaurants, with traditionel and also modern dishes, we can help by choosing the right one for your day. Start your day in the swimming pool 7x15m. If you are a mountainbiker then this is the right place, start your tour in front of the door. Walking and jogging also. The hot water spas of Petriolo are 15km and of Saturnia 50km away. 8 km of splendid free beach between Castiglione della Pescaia and Marina di Grosetto are ca. 25min by car. Don't miss the Uccellina natural park. In the evening make your own pizza in our 300 year old oven, we show you how. All year long you can help us by seasonal works, then take back home your self-picked and frech pressed oliveoil. Visit the large amount of curches and cultural places of the south of tuscany. We can't mention them all. St. Antimo with there gregorian chants 7 times a day. The archeological places of the etruscian culture for example Roselle and Vetulonia, with its nice museum. Montalcino with his famous wine all places in about 15-20 km. The city of Siena 35 km away, Firenze 1 hour by car. And don't forget to discover the beauty of the medivial villages nearby or the impressing cities of tuff, Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana.
